ABA interviewed Richard Shrake!

Richard Shrake is the Associate Librarian for Technical Services at the American Philosophical Society.

(Q&A)

ABA: In a few sentences, tell us what you’ll be presenting at ABA.

RS: I’ll be presenting the APS’s recent migration from ContentDM to Islandora. Specifically, I’ll address why we made this change and why we believe it is a good solution from stewardship and budgetary perspectives. I’ll demonstrate some of the advantages of the Islandora approach and reveal some of the challenges we’ve faced.

ABA: What do you hope audiences will get from your talk?

RS: I hope the audience will gain confidence to build an open-source digital repository and further contribute to the community of developers and users.

ABA: Their archival theories aside, who do you think would win in an Ultimate Fighting Match, Jenkinson or Schellenberg?

RS: Schellenberg, who I believe is known as the Chuck Norris of archival theory.

ABA: On a scale from 1 – 10, (10 being easiest) how easy would it be for
other archivists to implement the project you’re presenting here?

RS: 4-5

ABA: Awesome Richard! Thank you very much! ABA is 17 days away!!!!
